Matthew Platt – Executive Head Chef
Matthew Platt was appointed head chef at Bumpkin South Kensington to coincide with it’s opening in Autumn 2008. In November of this year he was promoted to Executive Head Chef of the Bumpkin brand. He grew up in Australia, where his experience there and traveling the world led him to win the 2004 Publicans Innovation of the Year Award for his creation “Around the world in 80 plates”. He has previously gained experience as Head Chef at Kew Grill in London where he worked with Great British produce, before moving onto a new project to oversee production of the award-winning Sourdough Bakery. To Bumpkin he brought his culinary skills including his baking magic, ensuring freshly baked sourdough bread is made each day in the kitchens. His experience has positioned him to be able to source, produce and create outstanding British cuisine. Matthew believes food should be both responsible and delicious, with a seasonal and sustainable focus.
